Momchailai Forest Retreat in Kanchanaburi, we focus about nature conservation more than business. For this reason we are so confident that you will be happy to find the natural other is not. More than that, we are also confident about the identity of the accommodation. Because each of the houses on the estates has been built at a different time and has its very own architectural signature and they also created from the natural passionate and have a wander in the value of antiques in mind all the time.
In addition to the above Momchailai Forest Retreat is a place surrounded by places of historical and natural attractions such as Hell Fire Pass and Sai Yoke Noi Waterfall or Lava Cave or if you like boat trip , Bamboo Raft we can take care.
See by yourself. And spend quality time you could hardly find anywhere else.
Accommodation and facilities:
What a little GEM... Words like gorgeous, breathtaking and heavenly do not do this place justice! Mostly marketed to local Thai guests, you would never know as the ambience and quality of the accommodation is beyond expectations! The resort is quiet and set in a tranquil forest setting and the natural mineral pool is inviting and refreshing and better still, we had it all to ourselves every time!! The only thing that is lacking is the kitchen/menu does not cater to western tastes so much but Wynn on reception was more than happy to take our meal requests and had the staff purchase the ingredients so the chef could make it for us the following day!!! Can t complain about that! :) It is also a fair drive out of Kanchanaburi and other attractions but the resort offers tours at a reasonable price. I would recommend giving yourself PLENTY of time if you are leaving this resort for the airport as the drive can be very long and traffic can be a BIG problem getting across Bangkok. Otherwise, this place is a real diamond!

Accommodation and facilities:
Unlike most other hotels along this stretch of river, they have kept the forest largely intact. My room was on the third floor of a kind of tree house structure looking over the river through the forest canopy. The effect is like staying in Tree Tops in Kenya. The room was, nevertheless, comfortable wih a decent bed and bathroom and functioning aircon. Breakfast was adequate and I didn t try other meals. Service was very friendly by two young girls who seemed to do everything from carrying bags, to cleaning to cooking to serving food. This is not a hotel for those who want a crowded bus party place with disco and Indian tailor shops. However, it is highly recommended for those who want a quiet place where they can admire the natural beauty of the area and go to sleep and wake up to the sounds of the forest. Mobile phone signal was good but I didn t ask if there was wi-fi.

when we booked at the forest retreat we
should definateley have hired transport. The hotel is about 3 kilometres from the main road quite steep in parts with no pick up service. when we arrived it seemed to be closed and the people there could not speak any english and we could no speke any Thai( bad start) we were the only guests and no facilities entertainment wise, the swimming pool was empty, we had booked in for 5 nights we stayed out overnight once because the buses stopped running at 6pm and we did not know that it was a holiday period. eventually the staff at the hotel began to chauffeur us back and forth to the main road if they were around when we went out. the nearest town to the hotel was 7minutes bus ride it wasn t a town as such,, a few nice places to eat.. it was shops on one side of the road with a park opposite. If you are looking to go here do your homework first and I also think the booking agents should be more informative, it was expensive for the facilities available.

This resort location is 7 KM away from Saiyok waterfall. It is inside the forest and so strongly suggest to check-in during day time only.
When we reached there was no other visitors. The receptionist guy helped us a lot to reach the location.
There were only few staff available in the resort (may be because of off-season). But their hospitality are good.
The food choices are limited. Most of the bunglows also needs maintenance.
If you need an isolated place to spend few days, this is the location.

Beautiful location and even better service/staff.
The front of house man, Win, spoke excellent English and helped us organise everything we did. He personally took us to places and was incredibly informative about each and everyone of them. As we are vegetarians they catered off menu for us everyday and organised the same when we were outside the resort. This place comes with my highest recommendation!

Hotel was not crowded when we arrived so we were given a free upgrade. Room was large and very clean. Manager spoke perfect English and was very helpful. Food was not great and side road leading to hotel was very rough.
Hotel is in beautiful gardens and I would recommend the place to my friends.

Mom Chailai did not create these Retreats
for commercial reasons. It was a life long compassion for Nature
and things of antique values that continues to motivate
Mom Chailai to create these sanctuaries. In fact each of the houses
on the estates has been built at a different time and has its very
own architectural signature.
And that is what makes a stay at Mom Chailai's Retreats a very personal experience. Mom Chailai's
Retreat attempts to make you feel as her personal guest.
Make yourself comfortable, feel at home in a place that was created for
relaxation. And spend quality time you could hardly find anywhere else.
